Amazing unfolding of image a must see

This VFX breakdown of how landscapes on Game Of Thrones are created doesn’t

take away any of the magic.

Pixomondo studios provide the visual trickery on the HBO show, and their

Matte Painting department does something pretty spectacular.

Matte Painting Artists from around the world help create stunning,
lifelike images of castles and medieval scenes, breathing life into
each location by incorporating back story.

For example, in George RR Martin’s novels he describes Harrenhall
as having once been attacked by a dragon. The artists then had to
think carefully about how the structure might look after being engulfed in flames.

Thanks to behance.net we have an in-depth look at how Senior Matte
Painting Artist Sven Sauer puts together the Matte Paintings for the show.
