The organizers of an interactive arts event happening in Decatur on August 1st are looking for artists to take part.
FIGMENT is described as a free, one-day participatory arts event. It started in New York in 2007.
Decatur’s event will take place on the campus of Agnes Scott College. The event website says FIGMENT Decatur “will transform the center quad of the Agnes Scott College campus into a large-scale collaborative artwork, and then it’s gone, without a trace.”
The deadline for submissions is Sunday, July 5. The website says everyone is welcome and the art has to encourage people to “play, dance, sing, create, engage, experiment, and explore their environment.”
The city of Decatur’s blog reports this is the first ever FIGMENT in the state of Georgia. The website says other FIGMENT events can be found in San Diego, Chicago, Washington, and Philadelphia, to name a few.
The event goes from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 1st. In addition to artists, volunteers are also needed.
