Art Cart: County fairs a good venue for local artists

I get on my soap box this time every year to encourage — some would say nag — artists to get involved in their local county fair art exhibits.

For well-known, successful artists, this might seem a bit beneath them. They are used to entering bigger, juried art competitions with actual prize money. The top art prize at a county fair art show is rarely more than $10. It is my sincere belief that if we as artists desire patrons, support, sales and success, then we in turn have an obligation to the public.
